Over my years of teaching and nearly 35 years of practice, I’ve developed several effective meditation techniques to help calm the mind. Research has found that we spend about 48 percent of our time lost in distracted thinking, which often leads to unhappiness. These distractions are usually fueled by anxiety, irritability, and self-doubt, which harm our well-being and lead to stress and depression.
In contrast, mindful attention frees us from the grip of compulsive thinking, allowing us to enjoy a deeper, richer, and more joyful experience of life.
