Embrace the New Year with Intentional Presence!

2016 is finally wrapping up, and what a year it’s been! It’s been full of unexpected political events, like Brexit and Donald Trump being elected as the US president, which have stirred fears of growing nationalism, racism, and deep divisions in our societies. On top of that, we’ve lost some beloved celebrities like David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Harper Lee, Florence Henderson, and Leonard Cohen.

Looking ahead to 2017, it’s hard to say what’s in store, but it’s probably smart to brace ourselves for more potentially tough times.

One great way to stay grounded when everything around you is chaotic is through meditation. While my meditation practice hasn’t made my life completely stress-free, it has definitely been a big help. Just yesterday, I went to teach a meditation class feeling stressed about some financial issues. After leading about 70 minutes of meditation, I left feeling calm and clear.
